At 56 I want to toot my horn at work. I can work circles around those boy/men. I grew up working in a greenhouse, and i still do. When i was growing up in the 1960s we still used clay pots, plastic pots was just on the horizon. We carried those pots in wooden flats. When we got in a truck of soil we unloaded all 500 bags by hand, we formed a chain and handed them off one at a time. We had muscles and we enjoyed our work.
Now that i got that off my chest from a frustrating day trying to motivate the boy/men, let me tell you what you would never guess if you met me. When we meet older people or anyone, we don’t often think of their history or life story or their accomplishment. Where does it all go? We don’t take time to understand the road the other person has crawled on.
I work in a greenhouse , as i have said, but there is allot more then just plants that i have worked on. I’ve been a roofer, a specialty roofer fixing leaks: I can finish concrete pour a walk, or a basement floor; I have taken apart a ford tractor and built it again; i have driven a moving van from Winnipeg to Pittsburgh and points between;i can pack that moving van so you couldn’t craw through if you wanted too;i have built ponds streams and water features, with paver patios;i can walk the peak of a 30 foot greenhouse with just a 2×4 to walk on.
But that’s all child play, what i really have done that not many do, is, i have stayed married to the high school sweet heart of 37 years, fathered five children all by her and enjoy six grandchildren. Put that in you pipe man/boy
