Daily Prompt: Free association …

Write down the first words that comes to mind when we say . .

. . . home.

. . . soil.

. . . rain.

home = family security

soil=biology of life

rain= catalyst of growth

Home was in the center of the place and the heart. We, the family, all of us from grand parents , uncles, cousin, and those big enough to know the difference between a weed and our crop, greeted the sun rise. This was the scheduled day to walk the beans. Soy Beans as far as the eye could see. We walked as a line of soldiers marching in formation to destroy that which stole the moisture from the soil that our crop needed.

Home, Soil and Rain each are givers of life. each has its own complexities within its self. Soil has hundreds and hundreds of microbial activities going on. the root of a plant has a symbiotic relation ship. By the use of rain  water carrying the nutrients from the soil to the plant. The soil is home for way more than worms. We at the greenhouse use compost tea as the first responder our feeding and fungicides endeavors. We are learning more and more how the synthetics of fertilizers and fungicide chemicals are destroying the very community of microbial life in the soil. Let alone the life and biology in the water ways of rain runoff.

Home , Soil and Rain are the structures of ecology. Each require stewardship to maintain. And each can be seen plainly deteriorating in our time for lack of stewardship.
