A bold foliaged plant for the garden with a multi colored blooming spike. The foliage is glossy green with flowing lobes, The foliage can rise to 2.5 to 3′.

The towering flower spikes appear in june through much of summer. Its zone of casual comfort is 7. however here in south-eastern pa. it has survived over five years.

Acanthus mollis likes the sun to part shade. It is truly one of my favorites for the bold texture it adds to the garden. It is said to be an inspiration for Corinthian columns architecture in Roman.
