Buddleia are a sure shrub anywhere. They will take planted in almost rock and explode in rich soil. they will be taller than you. I had some planted in a poor rocky-shale soil they grew to 6-8 feet. full sun plant hardy zones 5-9.

The ultimate butterfly attractor. And a great cut flower. flowering all summer you will be happy with the buzzing insects, butterfly and hummingbirds that pay  your garden a visit.

Have an urban small yard? Just do what i did great a standard going up one of the fence 4×4’s.Works great, just keep plucking the shoots off the standard trunk.

When you have Buddleia in your garden feel free to cut it back in the early spring to 6-8″ off the ground. Other wise you may give up your yard eventually. Also the seed heads and canopy in the winter are an added adventure for Juncos and the like.
