In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “The Transporter.”
1962 i went out for track. Madeira Beach Junior high, Florida. Running laps before school was exciting for about two seconds. But there was a scent along the way.trodding on the sand and vegetation. The smell set off a feeling of nausea.
It wasn’t a bad smell, sort of sweet, but it had the misfortune of being discovered by me during a body changing high stress time of moving from lower grades to higher grades, leaving the play ground to a sports team, leaving a relaxed routine moving toward responsibility. Blah.
Anyway galium odoratum is a great ground cover that blooms early spring, track season. A small white flower and a whirl of leaflets. And gallium odoratum, as you may guess, gives off a smell kind of sweet.. Most people like it. I’m reminded of my first struggles at becoming a winner at the 220 race.
